Not all great books are a success – Despite the Boodle books’ introduction following the successful Mr Men series, challenges like surplus warehouse stock, market dynamics, and logistical hurdles prevented them from achieving mainstream success, leading to a loss of investor support.
In 2021 we were proud to share these six 1980s children’s book classics, revitalised for the current generation by integrating the updated stories as chapters of the “Granny Annie’s Ultimate Alphabet Book.”

Boodle Books Series Completed As Granny Annie’s Ultimate Alphabet Book Online
Boodles are now Granny Annie Stories – After four decades of persistence from her son Luke, Jo finally completed the series of 26 books in 2021.
All of the original Boodle book stories were updated and feature prominently in Grannie Annie’s Ultimate Alphabet.

Boodle Book / Granny Annie / Hourglass Author Jo Kemp
Jo Kemp is a British author who wrote the original TV scripts for ‘Chorlton and the Wheelies’ and ‘Jamie and the Magic Torch’.
As a production company owner and TV producer, she went on to produce over 100 episodes of ‘The Raggy Dolls’ for Yorkshire TV through her own film production company. Jo now lives in Dorset and is writing the next book in the sci-fi fantasy series titled ‘The Hourglass’.
